Underwater Photography Theory Evening at Sandton Scuba : Wednesday 26 November 2008
Underwater Photography Workshop Weekend with Tiger shark diving: Fri- Sun 28-29 November 2008 Wild Woodburn Photography will be running a workshop focused entirely on underwater housed systems for DSLR and film systems. The workshop will focus on :
Preparing your underwater camera housing properly, protection on the boat
Selecting the right SLR lens and underwater lighting before the dive
Natural light photography, the fundamentals
Managing the sunspot in your underwater photos
DSLR Metering options
DSLR Focus options
Underwater Macro lighting setups
Underwater wide angle lighting options
The workshop will entail a evening of theory ( Wednesday 26 November) at Sandton Scuba, and a weekend of Tiger shark diving on Aliwal shoal KZN.
The goal of this interactive workshop is to allow underwater housed camera users (all levels) to experiment, test new techniques, get critical review of their attempts and interact with other DSLR photographers. Most underwater photographers never change their settings as they feel under pressure to try get their best photos on each dive and therefore stick to the settings they know and have used before. Often they struggle to get the best from their cameras and when in the thick of shark diving don't even think of changing their camera settings to get the best from the conditions. Brush up on your skills during the week before at a theory presentation and DSLR overview before heading to the best tiger shark diving destination on the planet. Diving with these magnificent tiger sharks without shark cages gives photographers an unique opportunity to compose outstanding images.
Tiger shark diving can be an exciting event and many photographers are extremely disappointed with their results after these action packed adventures. Andrew Woodburn will take photographers through a photo preparation approach (cases studies of good and bad images) and assist with in water guidance and tiger shark photo reviews We will also look at doing either a macro dive or wreck dive conditions dependant down at the Shoal. This is not a course to give you a certificate but rather a learning experience designed to leave you with the ability to take better photos. Give your SLR underwater photography a step change and improve the use of your equipment and the delivery of your creativity, surprise yourself.
You will need: your dive certification, underwater housing and camera, at least one strobe, preferably have a laptop with some form of graphics program.
Sea&Sea have committed to support the workshop and make available some demo gear dependant on participants needs.
